Formation -IN- is an acoustic trio in which the leading instrument is vibraphone supported by double-bass and guitar. Where usually these instruments sound acoustic, on the recordings they were electronically embellished, giving it eventually wider spectrum of sound and timbre and discovering new unknown gauge of vibraphone.
The recording of this album was inspired by pictures by Wasilij Kandinsky, Russian forerunner of abstractionism. Not only was he a great painter but also a musician, who heard his art and used musical vocabulary to describe it. He used to say “the palette is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmony and the soul is the piano with many strings. Artist is the hand, which hits the keys to make the soul vibrate and every sound has a colour, its shade is pitch and saturation dynamics”.
